father, my grandfather, and my uncle just accomplished racing in the 2010
ARC. To me that it is amazing that they did that race. Also, I would like to
say congrats to everyone who has finished the race. I would also like to
tell you how my mother cherished being with Ian/my brother, Luke/ my
brother, and me for 30 days during the time my dad was gone. Even though
there were bumps along the road we all survived. :)

On December 26 we flew over in a private plane to St. Lucia. When we got on
the plane we meet our amazing pilot Eric. When we got to St. Lucia we
settled in my new sister, Neki. I loved her!!! Later that night we went to
Big Chef's and had one of the best dinners ever! I had garlic bread, pizza
bread, and terrific penne pasta.

Today we slept in and then went to a late breakfast. Afterward we had a crew
meeting on the boat and then organized a shore side excursion for tomorrow.
We hit the grocery store for provisions and then stocked the boat. In the
afternoon we put the tender in the water and went to explore. Dad gave us
each a turn driving as he taught us how to handle the small boat. We grabbed
the camera and our hiking shoes and went to Pigeon Island for a hike. This
is a St. Lucia National Park that has an old fort and an Army listening post
on each of its hills. There is also a nice sand beach. We did both hikes to
the forts and were hot and tired afterward. We all made the steep climbs and
rough terrain although it was touch and go for a while. The ocean was cool
and refreshing afterward.

This morning we woke up early had breakfast on the boat. Mom and Dad were
much more pleasant with their morning coffee close at hand. We arranged a
ride and then went to the Rainforest Adventures. This area is in the
Rainforest of St. Lucia. The Government owns the land and holds it as a park
for the people of the island. We were disappointed to find out that we were
not old enough, but more importantly, not HEAVY enough to use the Zip Lines.
You have to be 12 and/or over 75 pounds. None of us children qualify:-( We
did do the Tram ride. This took us up through the Rainforest. We were over
75 feet off the jungle floor as the tram went up the hill. We had a guide
that told us all about the forest. She was very helpful and courteous
throughout the day. After the Tram ride we did a 30 minute hike through the
forest. Ian was very exuberant and began running down a steep hill. He trip
and skinned his palms and had to go to the infirmary. After a little ice and
cleaning of the hands we realized he would be okay. Tonight we are making
the boat ready for travel and then we will head out to our next destination.
