After a rolling night in Canouan we hoisted the anchor and set off on our last big sail of the trip. We want to leave the boat in Port Louis Marina, St. Georges, Grenada so it is positioned for the Oyster Regatta, 2011. This is about a 60 nm trip but by now the crew is hearty and up for the sail. Anji has taken a keen interest in learning the boat so she took the helm while I hoisted the anchor. She deftly navigated us out of the harbor and set the auto pilot for our course. We immediately set some fishing lines and settled in for a full days sail. Anji and the kids played games in the cockpit while I got some minor repairs done on the boat. The wind was lighter than forecast so we did a fair amount of motor sailing. During the trip the girls took the opportunity to deploy the bow deck cushions and enjoy some warm Caribbean Sunshine while the boys attacked their handheld video games.

The trip was uneventful especially as we did not catch any fish! Oh well maybe next time.

As we entered St. Georges a HUGE Motor Yacht was leaving the harbor. We later found out this was the director Steven Spielberg’s boat. It was modern and looked like something straight out of one of his movies.

We spent one night in Port Louis and ate on the boat. We tried, in vain, to eat all the perishables but the task was too great. We passed some of these on to the very helpful marina personnel. They were very good assisting us with our first stern too mooring so their bounty was well deserved. There were a number of other boats in the marina that completed the ARC so we exchanged some tales of our trip with them. We have found the sailing community to be very friendly and generous with their time and aid.  It is wonderful meeting new people and one of the reasons we enjoy sailing.

Back to Florida for a while and we hope to be back on board for Spring Break in March.
