A great man once said..."in anything you do always finish strong". That is
sage advice for both a student, a business man, and a sailor. Today was a
day to finish strong. The wind is still up and we are finally convinced that
the trade winds will not let us down. These are the winds the brochure
advertised. We are happy to have them as our seventh and most welcome crew
member.

We used today to prepare the boat for landfall. We washed off life jackets,
fenders, fishing poles, lines, the galley, and laundry in preparation for
landfall tomorrow. We also repacked arming packets in the life jackets for
the two that deployed while sailing. Making the boat ready for landfall is a
fine motivation tool to keep the crew fired up. Mike cleaned out the
refrigerator and served up some large Dagwood sandwiches for lunch, a meat
and cheese plate for an appetizer, and shrimp fettuccini for dinner. We did
pretty well in our provisioning. We will be out of bottled water at
landfall, we will have extra beer and wine, and extra juice. We definitely
bought too much juice. We will have three dinners remaining (tuna, chicken,
and octopus) as we supplemented them with fish we caught along the way. Mike
did an outstanding job of planning and cooking for the crew. I would put our
meal plan, and appetites, up against anyone in fleet!

It would be easy to say that we have mixed emotions about finishing but that
is not true. EVERYONE is proud of our accomplishment but are VERY ready to
see our loved ones. To a man we are happy about what we have done but are
very eager to see our families and be back home!

We will finish tomorrow and update the blog with fresh photos!
