Sitting in Sines

Tropical Storm Helene is awkwardly siitting with her tail hanging down the Portugese coast, and on down to Canaria. We don't have big winds, but do have headwinds with very rough cross seas. Well not even that really as we are staying here till it moves on! The forcast tells us that's what we would have if we sailed.
It has given us the opportunity to enjoy Sines.
This is such a beautifull town, and with so much history. Vasco da Garma was born here, a navigator who went on to discover India. The old town is completely unspoilt, although a new town has been built alongside. The whole place clings to the side of a hill, with fantastic views from almost every street.
One of the biggest dangers we face in U.K. is 'Health and Safety' - faceless unelected clerks who have somehow achieved power over everything we do in their attempt to remove from us all decisions on how we live.
This place hasn't been infected.
There are wonderfull views over 200ft sheer drops protected by walls you can climb over. There are beautifull cobbled streets you could stumble on. There are whole streets you could not possibly get a wheelchair through, steps down the cliffs without adequate resting places, restaurants selling lovely food cooked in kitchens accessible to the public. People sometimes smoke in bars! The fishmarket and harbour is open to the public!
This place is an open, vibrant, exciting place to live.
Those faceless clerks would have it shut in an instant.
We plan on staying here untill the sea goes down a bit. Headwinds are o.k., but not with rough cross seas. I doubt that that will resolve until Tuesday at earliest.
I don't think you're having it any better in U.K. either! At least it's warm here.
