Today finds us almost 90% of our way to Martinique and we are soon to be on the home strait with arrival expected sometime on Wednesday 20th December. Everyone has had a challenging journey and are now looking forward to getting in, food choices are now limited and some creative breakfast/lunch and dinners have been appearing. As ever with boat life and especially an adventure such as this there are constant challenges and new ones emerging each day.
The sea is delivering no fish but plenty of rain which non of us signed up for.
There have been a few power issues as the generator has decided not to come on duty so have had to work hard , particularly last night, helming to minimise power consumption from the Auto Pilot and being more cautious with the use of water and electricity as the abundant supply has depleted somewhat.
There is almost a unanimously positive attitude amongst the crew and the youngest have shown great fortitude in helping maintain the positive atmosphere on board. I am sure their families would be proud of them, I certainly am.
We’re all looking forward to a cold beer and chilling out without involuntary motion for a few days on the run up to Christmas. We will do another blog before landing and one at our destination and add some photographs.
Aujourd'hui on se retrouve à 90% de la route vers la Martinique. On approche de l’arrivée qui est prévue le mercredi 20 décembre. Tout le monde a eu un voyage challengeant et attend l’arrivée avec impatience. Les options niveau nourriture commencent à se raréfier donc des recettes de plus en plus créatives émergent. Comme toujours dans la vie en bateau, et surtout sur des aventures comme celle-ci, il y a des nouveaux défis chaque jour. La mer ne nous apporte plus de poisson, mais beaucoup de pluie, ce que nous n’attendions pas. Il y a eu des problèmes d’électricité aussi, causés par le générateur qui a décidé de tomber en panne. La conséquence: nous devons beaucoup barrer et on est économe avec l’eau douce, tout cela dans le but d’économiser l’énergie.
À bord règne une attitude positive pour presque tout le monde et les plus jeunes ont montré une énorme force de caractère afin de maintenir l’atmosphere positive. Je suis sûr que leurs familles seraient fières, moi je le suis certainement. Nous avons tous hâte de boire une bière bien fraiche et de se reposer, loin du mouvement constant, pour quelques jours avant Noël. On fera un nouveau blog en arrivant avec des photos.
