Another day of steady progress towards Cape Verde, making the most of inconsistent and often light winds. The forecasts predict some more wind filling in today so hopefully our boat speed will pick up.
During one of the lulls Martin and Mark decided to dive off the back and have a little swim. It’s only just over 4,000m deep here so what could possibly go wrong! Funnily enough no more dolphins have been spotted since, they probably realise they can’t compete with the sleek streamlined bodies and aquatic prowess.
Our playlists are all very similar reflecting our demographic profiles. Thinking about it, that could be what’s putting the dolphins off! Not many of them would have frequented 1970’s discos.
The Mahi Mahi reappeared for dinner last night washed down with a nice ‘volcanic’ white wine Martin bought in Lanzarote. It was our first drop since we left port and therefore mightily disappointing when one of the glasses toppled over in an unexpected swell. Demonstrating the team spirit you would expect from us, everyone decanted some until we all had an equal share. The wine was an excellent complement to the fish which was fresh, tender and delicious - thanks to Tony’s culinary skills.
