Today brings a new mood of anticipation as we are approaching the halfway point and will soon be on our way in. Last night brought squalls again and radar watches to help us dodge them. This mornings dawn watch with Paul & Ilja were privileged to see a sunrise of magnificent texture which could only be appreciated fully in mid-atlantic. We hope the photo does it justice.
A celebratory bolognese dinner is planned by Patrick for tomorrow's crossing of the half way point, there will be a bottle of red wine opened for sauce which I suspect will be polished off by the crew soon after. Other than this we have been impressively abstemious although there is much talk of restaurants and bars as we all imagine a landing on Martinique.
As I write Ilja is consuming the gastronomic delights of tinned sardines for lunch and the galley is busy with Chloe & Thyl preparing lunch. Patrick is now fast becoming fond of the generator and is sitting on it for lunch.
Destination photo is attached to show proximity to the airport but we’re sure there will be coconut palms and a cold beer close by.
Aujourd'hui l’atmosphère à bord est différente car on approche de la moitié du chemin. Bientôt on sera donc plus proche de l’arrivée que du départ. Cette nuit a connu de nouveaux grins, donc nous avons bien observé le radar. Paul et Ilja, de quart ce matin, étaient privilégiés de voir un merveilleux lever de soleil avec plein de nuance, lesquelles étaient encore plus appréciées au milieu de l’Atlantique. On espère que vous pouvez en profiter autant avec la photo.
Demain, un dîner de pasta bolognese cuisiné par Patrick est prévu pour célébrer la moitié du chemin. Il ouvrira une bouteille de vin pour la sauce, et je suspecte qu’elle sera bien finie par les équipiers. D’ailleurs l’abstinence pendant le voyage a été impressionnante. Pourtant, il y a eu beaucoup de conversations sur des bars et restaurants où on imagine se rendre après notre arrivée en Martinique. Pendant que j’écris cela, Ilja est en train de savourer la délicieuse “conserve de sardines” et dans la cuisine Chloé et Thyl préparent le déjeuner. Patrick a commencé à aimer le groupe électrogène et s’est même assis dessus pour le déjeuner. Vous trouverez ci-joint aussi une photo du point d’arrivée pour montrer la proximité avec l’aéroport. Même si on est sûr qu’il y aura des palmiers et des bières bien fraiches aussi.
