We've made it!
After close on 18 days, we finally sight St Lucia
on the horizon! The trade winds have been a bit of a dissapointment and we voted
earlier in the week to use the motor as soon as the wind died out to reach St
Lucia sooner rather than later!
As we rounded Pidgion island we finally had
enough wind to raise the sails and sail across the finishing line as
37th boat out of 225 starters.
Due to the excessive motor hours we had this meant
that we did'nt do as well as we would have liked in our class..but as we arrived
two days earlier than others in our class and spent the time drinking
beer and playing golf we all agreed that it was the right
decision!!
We were met by cheers and hooters from other boats
upon entering the marina and a welcoming comittee from the ARC were waiting
for us with an ice cold rum punch which was most welcome!
After a few days in St Lucia, mostly around the
marina, its now time to leave this lovely climate for a trip home for
christmas.. we'll be back sometime after the new year....so watch this
space!
A merry christmas and happy 2009 from
