St Lucia again

After some hard sailing in strong trade winds well ahead of the beam we are
now back in a marina in St Lucia for a couple of nights while we do some
maintainence.

We stopped briefly in Carriacou and Bequia en route and then did the St
Vincent bypass back up to Marigot Bay and now in Rodney Bay. Jonny Depp is
presently in StV fiming Pirates of the Carribean but extras had to be less
than 35 to be credible pirates so no extra money there (I would have wanted
to be the captain anyway). The stage set pirate ship was right on our track
so we had a close look. Somehow the 2 portaloos on the stern made it lose
some credibility.

I have stripped down the roller furling gear and fitted a new forestay
connection to the stem head as the 2 shackles which were in place never
looked right. Much happier with the new arrangment. Teg in the meantime
spent a happy day cleaning the bilges as a halfway celebration. We are now
ready for the next stage.

Caught a fantastic 4' ish blue marlin between St VIncent and St Lucia which
I am glad to report got away as we were trying to get it on board. It was
only blowing Force 6 at the time so a nice stable deck platform, a hand line
and no gaff all made the operation a doddle (hence timely escape). It really
was a stunning fish and better off growing into an 8' blue marlin than
covering our decks with blood and becoming a HUGE meal! It will have bad
toothache for a while.

Off to Martinique tomorrow to brush up on the French but really looking
forward to getting off trail again in Dominica which is less visited and
reported to be stunning.
