Day 14 - not even half way!

Trade winds, what trade winds?

Any of our windsurfing friends will understand that complete lack of
appropriate wind is not that unusual for CB! To date we have had none of the
prevailing easterlies we should expect. At present we are close hauled in to
10 knots of SW wind - not actually making our course. The good news is that
we are actually moving - which is good because we have used all but 24 hrs
worth of diesel to get this far. Have motored about 450 miles (Bay of
Biscay) in mirror calms but it is sailing from now on!

Saw a fantastic whale breach a couple of days ago which was first for Teg.
That certainly increased the lookout for a while!

Teg made her first granary loaf two days ago which was better than the ones
from Otterton mill (and that seems a long way away). Fresh oranges, cabbage,
peppers, apples, onions and lemon (most important for obvious reasons) all
still on the go. No more coleslaw for me thanks.

First Spanish lesson this morning (Hola senores) so we hope to be fluent by
the time we reach Venezuala (isn't there some political unrest going on?).
Infact at this rate we should be able to grapple with hebrew and portuguese
as well.

Now 99.999% certain that we will be at sea for crimbo so Pete and NIck's
puds will come in very tasty. Sarah Orr's fruit cake (thank you) is almost
finished so we will have to think again on that score. Not much chance of
catching a turkey but if Teg spends any longer in the sun she will be self
basted and very crispy so I will be alright. Tuna it is then.

We love the concept of really hot sun converting photons into refrigerons
via the solar panel so the san mig can be kept suitably cold. We don't want
for any home comforts.

That's enough for now. Bit more nonsense in a few days.

Morale is high and so is my shirt.
