Had a fantastic sail down to Prickly Bay Grenada to day (sun) from Tyrell Bay Carriacou. It was a cracking broad reach all the way down apart from an hour's beat along the S shore of Grenada to Prickly Bay. Arrived here to fing Velsheda tied up on the pontoons. It would take us a year to varnish her brightwork let alone get the mainsail up. Wouldn't mind a spin though!

Grenada has a festival of sail starting at the end of next week so we will probably hang around here for a while and hire a car to get up into the rainforest and do some hiking. Also hope to visit the spice, rum and sugar factories with a view to tasting some of their wares. The local work boat races are always fun because there are no rules about the number of crew who start and finish the race.

Just a few pics from the last few days. I have reduced their quality to try and reduce download times.

1.Teg concentrating too hard - she's enjoying it really. Reaching down from Carriacou to Grenada. Note fishing line at the ready. No luck today but caught 2 yesterday at anchor.

2. Nice bit of real estate. Mopion Island near Petit St Vincent.

3. Don't leave me here. I'll never find a job.

The bad news is that tomorrow is oil change and fuel filter day so Teg is going to wander ashore for a while during this particular evolution. Let's just hope the filters I bought in Bequia are the right size. I bet the bloke who owns Velsheda doesn't have to change his own engine oil.

30 Jan. A day further on I can report that engineering exercises have gone well with the engine running smoothly and no oil in the bilge.

We have spent some time touring the island in a rental car it is a stunning place. All the spices which come in tiny jars at home can be picked off the tree here and the way they are all prepared is fascinating. We also visited a cocoa plantation yesterday where the smell of fermenting cocoa beans is a mixture between a French bakery and a winery. More on that later.

Life is very sociable here in Prickly Bay as alot of short term cruisers seem to choose it as their turn around point and spend a bit of time here. It's fun to catch up with people we have met en route.

The sailing festival starts tomorrow.
