Last night watch went badly. I sat watch with motley Dave, who along with other still awake motleys was much amused when the illustrious skipper nodded off on the bench and rolled onto the cockpit floor. I told them I was testing them to see if they were awake enough to notice I had fallen asleep.
So it's Saturday. Doesn't feel like...it feels very much like all the days gone before...except heaven has opened up a furnace....Mr Frog the digital barometer is wearing sun glasses and smiling, and is giving a late pm shade temperature of 33C. Motleys are all upstairs fishing and sunbathing whilst we sail gently along in a light breeze at 5 knots with the cruising chute up. Lunch went from being cooked, to a light snack. Wish we were heading for the Arctic like last night when the wind swung round to the west and no one noticed ... the autopilot keeps a set heading to the wind and after a few days we would have noticed something was wrong had not the wave direction change triggered skipperly wise thoughts. . Flying fish keep landing on the decks...and they stink, our one but last lure was taken by something 'big and deadly skip' in the middle of the night along with most of the reel. We are down to our final reel. One bar of cadburys left, still ... low on rice crispies, buts lots of corn flakes. The hot dog situation is not yet critical, but I am keeping a close eye on it...the hot weather and light wind has slowed us down quite a bit so we might be forced to fall back on the steaks, chicken, and roast beef.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Nash...the noisy paddle thwacker is busy entertaining the resident musician...and will be gifted to Neptune in the next few minutes. Guest chef today is Mr Kennedy, who served up a fusion of chicken niblets and egg mayonaise for lunch and has let it be known that tonight will be chicken chasseur without Dalminos cooking sauce....whatever that is. I might just have dogs.
