Right, I'ver just arrived at an anchorage in the
Gambia River near a town called Banjul. I'm not dissapointed about having made
the decision to come to the Gambia instead of Senegal but I am a little
embarrassed about what I now think was just a fishing boat trying to sell some
of his catch. I couldn't have known and there seemed to be far too many people
on the boat but as I was leaving the channel, I saw another one which also had a
large flag (different colours) but who held his course and left me well alone.
Then again, almost on the border with the Gambia, I saw another one hauling nets
over the side - conclusive proof I think!!
Anyway, you'll have to take my word for it that it
looked rather sinister and being that I was already fearing the worst, you can't
blame me for over-reacting. I think the flags must be some sort of terretorial
fishing thing as they all carried different colours.
So, it's a shame that I didn't get to cruise around
the Casamance as it really did look absolutely stunning. Banjul is a big town
though so I should be able to sort a few things out here before moving
on.
