I had a fantastic sail when a steady sea breeze finally started from the southwest last night and steadily lifted until sunrise this morning. It's frustratingly light again now (I'm presumably well into the Azores High by now) but it was so nice after days of downwind sailing in light airs to finally be doing some proper sailing. It was a fairly warm night too as the full moon struggled to penetrate the cloud cover. I've had mainly clear nights so far which are great for watching the stars but they've been a bit nippy.

I had imagined that to be accompanied by playful dolphins such as I was the other day was quite an unusual and privileged experience but it seems there is an abundance of them down here. These past few days, I've been joined by up to a dozen at a time and although I'm not rushing to the bow to take photographs any more, I am left wondering how they manage to move so quickly with such little effort.

Anyway, I'll probably arrive in Cascais some time tomorrow afternoon but for now, everything's pretty much spot on. Oh, except I'm running out of books to read! I finished another one last night by Conn Iggulden called Lords of the Bow based on the life of Genghis Khan - surprisingly good!

More soon,
