DAY 10 FRIDAY NOV 28
Position at 22.20 GMT 19 deg 20.25 north 36 deg 13.50 west
We’ve now covered 1,370 miles since leaving Gran Canaria and we’re very
close to the halfway mark.
The sea and the weather have changed considerably now that we’re in the
Trade Winds sector. It’s much calmer and the wind is coming from the east,
blowing us along at a pace.
Just had the crew dinner on deck – pasta bolognese.
Dave holds the record for spotting the most vessels at sea – three. One of
them was a French racer called Gazel Rebel, with three on board. We’d
spoken to their crew a few days earlier by radio and this time they sailed over
to us and we had a chat with them.
They’re in a race from Lanzarote to Martinique so we may see them again in
a day or two.
We’ve had a relaxing afternoon: Chris listened to music and read a book,
Mark had a nice nap, Dave sunbathed and did his soduko – and Nigel got a bucket
and sponge and mopped out the forward bilges, which have been letting in a
little rain water.
The moon is bigger and brighter tonight and has spread out a lovely silver
route on the water for us to follow.
[Sorry for any delays with our blogs; there are about 300 yachts around
here all trying to squeeze into limited satellite access]
