Dear followers!
One week already! Now we have reach the warm tropical air and it will be hard to sail in the English Chanel after that! 25 degrees days and nights accompagned of a 6-9 kts of warm wind, just enough to keep a fine reach (60 degrees of the wind) with our weapon, the code 0, a big genoa but not fixed into the forestay instead there is an anti-torsion line is fited into the luff in order to keep the sail rigid, and to be able to go with a close angle to the wind. That sail is quiet dark a mixture of mylar and carbon fiber, so in the night Shalan looks very sexy. She is doing well we just need 5 kts of wind to keep her on her way to the coconut time!
We had some very nice sunsets/sunrises, my goal was to deliver some dreams to my crew and I think they enjoy the sailing life's ;) We caught another Dorado wich the real term is Coryphen today. Actually we had two of them in the same time one each fishing line, but one buger left the hook when coming into the cockpit. Well the freezer is full, but we still want a massive beast before stopping!
Flying fishes are in the party, in the night they are quiet attractive by the navigation lights or the head torchs, sometimes they land in your face! But they tast so nice.. Some of them hae some fly who long arounds 10-15sec above the waves. It is a bit like a cinema, that's why we had some popcorn when contemplating the spectacle.
I was pleased to give some sextant lessons to the chaps, we had a few sights yesterday and today, about 8nm from the gps position. ( sextant is an instrument used by the antan navigators, taking the altitude of the sun or stars/planets, and with some calculations you know where you are)
Nearly half way now, see you soon!
