For Valentine’s Day (!), (well, more like waiting for the first weather window) we sailed from Union Island back to Bequia, a trip we’d done a couple of times now but it’s not to be taken lightly.  It was rough, wind just aft of close-hauled so it was wet as well, and we sailed the whole thing with a couple of reefs in.  We have swapped the big genoa for the smaller jib for the passage northwards as it is more manageable for close-hauled/reach work.

On arriving in Bequia, we were pleased to see Peter & Veronica on “Moonrise”, and anchored and had a chat to them before realizing we were anchored right over the fuel hose which takes fuel out to the tanker mooring.  So we upped anchor and found a perfect little spot right near the beach on the northern side of the harbour.

We really fancied a meal ashore after a rough passage, but because it was Valentines day, everywhere was US$80 for a meal!  Romantics that we are, we decided against this (not helped by having two small children who want to run around after a day at sea)

We were persuaded by Peter that it was a good idea to push northwards on Monday 16^th, rather than Tuesday as we’d originally planned, as the forecast didn’t sound too bad.  So we checked out of customs, sad to be leaving the Grenadines after such a lovely time spent here.  I think we will always have such fond memories of these islands, especially Carriacou, Union, Canouan, Mayreau & PSV.

We planned to make an early start to get up to St Lucia so went for an early dinner at the Devils Table – the best steaks I’ve had since leaving the UK (in fact the best steaks I can remember).  Well recommended.
