For Valentine’s Day (!), (well, more like waiting for the first weather window) we sailed from Union Island back to Bequia, a trip we’d done a couple of times now but it’s not to be taken lightly.  It was rough, wind just aft of close-hauled so it was wet as well, and we sailed the whole thing with a couple of reefs in.  We have swapped the big genoa for the smaller jib for the passage northwards as it is more manageable for close-hauled/reach work.

On arriving in Bequia, we were pleased to see Peter & Veronica on “Moonrise”, and anchored and had a chat to them before realizing we were anchored right over the fuel hose which takes fuel out to the tanker mooring.  So we upped anchor and found a perfect little spot right near the beach on the northern side of the harbour.

We really fancied a meal ashore after a rough passage, but because it was Valentines day, everywhere was US$80 for a meal!  Romantics that we are, we decided against this (not helped by having two small children who want to run around after a day at sea)

We were persuaded by Peter that it was a good idea to push northwards on Monday 16th, rather than Tuesday as we’d originally planned, as the forecast didn’t sound too bad.  So we checked out of customs, sad to be leaving the Grenadines after such a lovely time spent here.  I think we will always have such fond memories of these islands, especially Carriacou, Union, Canouan, Mayreau & PSV.

We planned to make an early start to get up to St Lucia so went for an early dinner at the Devils Table – the best steaks I’ve had since leaving the UK (in fact the best steaks I can remember).  Well recommended.
