Viviero, Spain

We felt we didn’t want another day like the previous one for our next sail so we got up late expecting to spend the day in Ribadeo, but some friendly Germans that we had met had headed out that morning, despite saying that they hadn’t sailed yesterday because it was too windy, so we double-checked the forecast and found that the wind was due to be less than yesterday.  So after lunch, we headed back out to sea.

The sail was much easier, thankfully – and was only 31 miles – so we pulled into Viviero marina just after dinnertime and tied up.  Bizarrely, as we pulled in, I noticed that the boat next to us was “Nortada” of Brighton – I had last seen her when she was in the yard at Sussex YC in Shoreham!  Her owner, Mick, had come round to our house the day before we moved out to look at one of the anchors I was selling.  Small world!  It turned out that Mick and another Sussex YC member, Donald, had sailed “Nortada” out to here and Mick was taking her on further with his wife, I believe.

We spent the evening doing a supermarket sweep in the nearby hypermarket – thrilling stuff.
