Arrived 0800 on 14th Sept having lost a day as we
crossed the date line sometime yesterday. Vava'u looks like a great
cruising ground of many islands and anchorages to explore over the next
week. Weather has cleared with the odd shower passing over. Friendly
people, apart from tourist accomodation the housing is poor and run down.
Lots of black and brown wild pigs everwhere kept out of the gardens by heavy
make shift fences of wire or corrigated iron. Big day for the town today,
16th, a cruise ship is due in and all the market stalls are loaded with weaving,
bone carvings, wood carvings etc.
