Flores in the Azores is supposed to be very pretty. We're sitting on board
under a grey, cold sky, in howling wind and rain - it could be the outer
Hebrides really. To be fair, the island is attractive, with lots of deep
blue hydrangeas and other European plants. The birds have changed from
bright yellow bananaquits to sparrows and blackbirds and we have real
seagulls. It's a small place, not much more than a village, with some 20 odd
boats, but very friendly and the local cafe served a lovely meal, with no
cabbage at all! I think we'll be here for a few days, but we'll let you
know.
