Quietly, but persistently, throughout the course of the CSA '15, "Hurley", "Alligator", and "Kitty" were working on their individual Qualification Cards! In the final day, they each had their "verbal checkout with Captain Poppi", and they all were signed off as "QUALIFIED"!! "Hurley" Qualified in "Celestial Navigation", and was awarded a copy of "Longitude" by Dava Sobel (the story of the solving of the "longitude problem" in the 1700's by a watchmaker). "Alligator" Qualified as "Crew of Arbella" with a multitude of experiences and skills…safety, operations, seamanship, knots, sail trim, navigation, and communications, and was awarded an "Arbella engraved Leatherman" (the principal sailors tool). And "Kitty" Qualified as BOTH "Helmsman" and "Dinghy Captain" and was awarded a Swatch Watch (since the helmsman has the duty to WAKE UP the oncoming watch….and since Poppi is hoping that she will use it to know to not wake him up before 7am!!). No pictures for the "Ceremony" just yet….but great memories all around. So we finish with a couple of pictures from the next morning…we took the dinghy and all the baggage from "Arbella" right to the dinghy dock at the airport, and walked to the terminal! The sunsets in the BVI's…or anywhere when on the water…are always spectacular! Signing off….Captain Poppi
