TUESDAY, 18TH MAY, 2010, COOK'S BAY, MOOREA We set sail from Tahiti on Sunday morning the 16th May, we were supposed to go after refuelling on Saturday but found the navigation chip was not working, as we had to make our way through a reef when we arrived in Moorea we decided to anchor near the marina and try to sort it out with the hairdryer etc. we eventually got it working only for it to fail again just before we arrived at the reef. Jonathan decided he could, with our help as look out, eyeball our way in as it was a well marked channel into Cook's Bay. After lots of playing around with it he eventually got it working again two days later. When we arrived in Cook's Bay with the majority of the Blue Water Rally fleet we were all invited ashore for a BWR drinks before lunch. The next day a session was organised for the girls/ladies to learn to make the floral head-dresses that many Tahitians wear, it was a lot of fun and can usefully be turned into reefs for Christmas decorations or a reef for the mantelpiece. We then had a session on learning how to tie our sarongs in different ways. Mary and I and another friend walked for a few miles visiting black pearl shops but compared to the Tuamotus Islands they are very over priced. ![]() ![]() ![]() Blue Water Rally yachts in Cook's bay, Moorea BWR Gals learning to make floral head-dresses Christine of Blue Magic modelling her sarong ![]() ![]() Mary watering my herbs BWR gals modelling our headresses ![]() ![]() ![]() Donald Hughs now on board Mary modelling her sarong Mary's headress ![]() ![]() ![]() House on the hillside Mountains and Belvedere around the bay In Cook's Bay Allan BEFORE lunch!
