The furler motor did indeed arrive on time on Tuesday and having fitted it we managed to leave St Jean at 1830 that day.

On our first 600M, proceeding westward and southward, we encountered mainly light and contrary winds, which meant a lot of motoring and motorsailing, so yesterday (Friday) afternoon we put into Cartagena where we refueled and rewatered and recharged ourselves if not the batteries, with a nice meal ashore. We have spent the night in the Yacht Port Cartagena, where I had last been in 2011, when it was fairly new. Cartagena and this marina remain as nice as ever.

This morning (Saturday) we plan to leave at 0900, on passage to Lagos, a distance of just over 400M.

We are pinning our main proper sailing hopes on the ocean passage to the Azores, but at the moment there is a large and deep low passing through that area, which could put some kind of kink in our plans. Fingers crossed again, this time for reasonable weather for our passage to Ponta Delgada.
