We had a pretty good 24 hours run, with moderate to strong winds, and made decent progress towards Portugal. We had a couple of sightings or AIS signals for commercial vessels, including a 750 foot boat called “Lafayette” that said it was a fishing vessel going to the Faroes! We are not sure just what kind of sea hoover a fishing boat that size must pack...

Sadly we ran out of wind late afternoon, and have had to resort to engine work. It also looks like we have a couple of days of very light winds, but we are crossing our fingers for enough to get the Parasailor aloft at least. If not, it is just as well we tanked up on diesel at Angra.

I am also delighted to get on to the wildlife scoreboard: a couple of very large whales blew me a raspberry; the biggest mouli mouli fish I have ever seen waved to me on the way past the hull; and then a turtle appeared….just like buses, I suppose.

We have about 500 miles to run, so not half way yet, I fear. The High weather system is fully in play now, though, so sun, sun, sun….
