After some very light winds as we left Bermuda, things improved towards nightfall and we began to make decent progress. The big low is slow moving, and the wind has increased from 8-10 knots to 20-22 knots, and is forecast to strengthen further tonight and into tomorrow. We have reefed down hard – 3 in the main and staysail only – and the boat is still coursing along so we will come off the wind a bit as it increases.

Our 2 crew mates have succumbed to the dreaded technicolour yawn today, but are feeling much better for it. Experienced sailors though they are, the seas are lumpy and – unlike us – they have not been aboard since January. A little acclimatisation will resolve matters soon.
