Yesterday was a good day - conditions have moderated, we sailed well during the day, the boat was fairly flat and not rolling about too much. All quite relaxed - so we got the fishing rod out for the first time. I think the summary would be that it didn’t go too well! We caught nothing, and discovered that it is impossible to reel the line in with the rod holder situated where it is. With the paravane on the line to sink the lure, the force was so great that it was impossible to wind the reel in. So a very good job we didn’t catch a tuna! In the end we had to cut the line and lose the (brand new) lure and paravane. Not a good start. We need some advice/instruction when we get to Mindelo.

We have sailed for nearly 2 days with the Blue Water Runner providing most of the drive, and it has been great. Overnight, the wind has dropped (as predicted by the Ade&Bev weather routing service). We are currently not ideally set up, but will change sails to the North G1 (big blue asymmetric) and main, and change our course to head straight to Mindelo.

It feels like we are “nearly there”. But we still have 300 NM to go, and with light winds (and at our current speed) that could take 3 days!! Fingers crossed for a bit more wind and drive over the next couple of days with the G1 flying.

We had a very nice breakfast yesterday - scrambled eggs on toast, with smashed avocado and proper coffee. Set us up for the day. So for our evening meal, Traci just had a snack, but I finished off some Chicken casserole with French beans.

Evening meals are rounded off by opening one of the doors on Emily’s “Atlantic Advent Calendar” and enjoying some chocolate.

We are eating well (and doing very little exercise apart from the constant battle to stand upright). Good job we don’t have any scales on board.

Once we make our sail changes, if should be a fairly chilled day on Walkabout.
