Slipped the berth in a bright yellow sunrise, through the chicane of the harbour entrance, and headed east with a ghost of tide following (no wind of course). The tide continued to pick up nicely for us, and we turned southeast round Rattray Head at 1140, another of the great headlands of the UK coastline, keeping a respectful 2 miles off to minimize the usual overfalls.  We averaged a touch over 6k and were in Peterhead at 1430, passing through the massive commercial harbour with tankers and oil rig vessels, onto a  quiet berth just inside the entrance to the very large marina. The office would be unmanned until 1600, so we just chilled aboard in a pleasant aftenoon sun. (Note: last time here, with Nick and Cate, we met Rob Smith, the BBC News presenter, on his circumnavigation, raising fund for charity, and loaned him our facilities key, as he had arrived late! Also it was from here, via bus to Aberdeen, that both Nick and Cate left for Deal, and Clive Metcalf joined me for the onward passage south). We decided there wasn't much need to make the long hike into town, so we dined aboard and spent a restful night, overlooked by the huge towering oil tanks and cranes of this busy oil teminal
