shoe shopping in the ocean

We are 100 miles from Bermuda. we’ll probably get there around midnight, but intend to hang out offshore and wait for daylight to go in.
It’ll be a nice pit stop. we did successfully avoid a nasty low pressure system that would have slammed us had we maintained our easterly course to the Azores. Here in Bermuda we can take a breather, do laundry,   go for a run, buy some shoes, check on the boat’s systems, send a few postcards and be on our way. Imagine, stopping in the middle of an ocean and buying shoes!!!  What a freaking concept.
In case some you are wondering why we aren’t so much further east by now, we were hit by a twister/tornado/water spout  (call it what you want but it was like the thing that carried Dorothy to the yellow rick road only smaller)  This twister hit us about 10 miles south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and we broke a steering arm. A 3” wide 1/2 “ thick solid bronze bar snapped in half like a pencil!!!   Limped back to Little Creek Va.,   found a great welder who fixed it and we got on our way.
The last 2 days have been what we signed up for! Clear blue sunny skies, white puffy cartoon clouds, SW winds 15 – 20, moonlit night skies, dolphins, sunsets , sunrise, and the boat merrily sailing along at 7-9 knots.
just kidding about buying shoes!!!!1    or am I ?.......
