At around 11:00 we caught our first glimpse of Lanzarote. We probably should have seen it much earlier, were we not looking so low on the horizon - it's so so steep. Stuart's fears of katabatic winds now seem more than warranted.

We've just taken the pole off the yankee and stowed it back on the mast. Now we are free to screech into port on a beam reach.

Wind and sea state remain the same as the last report, with sea somewhat calmed due to the shelter of the island.

We are now going straight to Puerto Calero (final destination) instead of Puerto de los Marmoles - familiar story of there being no room in the inn.

only 12nm to go!
