We arrived in Las Palmas at around 2.30pm after a fairly unadventurous trip.
Unfortunately the boat was full of members of the Oyster Service Team all of
whom seemed to have their heads stuck in various corners of the boat fixing
things that had broken on the boats journey south last week! Disappointing
as this was, the upside was that Oyster agreed to book us into Hotel Santa
Catalina, a 5 star hotel next to the Marina! Happy Days! We attended the
Oyster party in the evening and enjoyed meeting up with the 15 other Oyster
owners and their crews who are taking part in this event and in particular
with Chris Ducker, the owner of the new Oyster 655, Flying Duckman and his
crew. Afterwards we went to Sakura II, an amazing Japanese restaurant in the
centre of Las Palmas, where the chef performed his magic in front of us. The
highlight was when the chef pinged pieces of fried egg at the 12 of us in
the hope that we could catch the pieces in our mouths. Stephen and Alex were
the heroes - no surprises there then eh? We then returned to the hotel for a
good night's sleep to prepare us for the next day...
