We left Sardinia expecting a smooth crossing but once again we were afflicted with choppy seas and a strong breeze on the nose.  However things did improve on the second day.  The crossing was 312 nautical miles and we arrived at Palma in the middle of a classic yacht races with spinnakers flying.  The Club Nautico was in a tizz as their waiting pontoon was full so we decidede to bide time by filling up with diesel.  Eventually we got a place at Moll Vell amongst the super yachts at the snip price of 100 Euros a day to moor!  However we are right by the old town and we overlook the Gothic Cathedral.  Palma is a beautiful place despite the crowds.
 
On our passage we were joined by 2 Stonechats who were clearly exhausted battling the adverse winds.  We had hoped to take them to within spitting distance of Majorca but overnight they both died, very sad as they were so tame and unafraid.
 
During our time here we visited the Oyster Marine office and they recommended a local rigger to look at the clanging noise we get when the boat rolls.  Rodrigues the rigger went up the mast writhed things around and concluded that the new rigging would eventually bed in and stop clanging, so no need for additional expense and best of all he refused to accept any money for the time and the visit, nice man.
 
For the rest of this week we have been sightseeing and shopping, I bought a new phone but no gadgets to replace the phone damaged on our Malta-Sardinia crossing.  It has been hot here with daytime temperatures topping 36 degrees and the temperatures not  dropping in the evening until very late on.
 
Tomorrow we set off for Cartegena on the Costa Blanca on the Spanish Mainland.  It will be about 220 nautical miles and this time we are determined to sail more even if we have to go slowly!
