For those of you concerned about the “Shadow Rats”, the captain would like
to inform you that there is no need to call pest control for these mythical
creatures, which are found only at night and in the minds of cabin-fever crazed
deck hands. A simple torch is all that is required to rid the boat of their
presence.
We’re making good progress now. We’re in the trades sailing well and
will notch up 2,000 miles sailing tomorrow (Saturday) we hope.
Unfortunately, the dolphins, killer whales and pilot whales seem to have
deserted us over the last couple of days, so our only escorts our the plentiful
flying fish which have been joined today by a plethora of seaweed, a sure sign
we are in the tropics.
![]() You’re probably wondering what we do all day but you’ll be surprised how
quick the days pass by. As you can imagine the boat needs to be manned 24/7 with
everyone taking a four hour watch with two crew on at all times. Shifts
are staggered so one person has two hours with one crew member and two hours
with another. Everyone has got into a good rhythm now and we have all
settled into our various sleep patterns (or ‘lack of sleep’
patterns!).
Breakfast is from 8.00 am onwards and is taken independently, depending on
your watch time but we all congregate for lunch and dinner; great occasions
especially as we get to sample the delights of Rose’s culinary skills.
![]() A typical day usually involves an hour or two of boat maintenance/ cleaning
in the morning, orchestrated by our “tyrant” skipper Guy, a very hard task
master who keeps us in our place! Free time is taken up with reading,
study, music, chatting, fishing, sun bathing, snoozing, films and oh yes,
SAILING.
Highlight of the day is Neil’s ( another tyrant in the making!) sunset
exercise classes a mixture of yoga, ABS, TRX and HITS, never looked forward too
but always enjoyed, especially once completed. Watch out Joe Wicks, you have a
competitor.
![]() We heard today that it’s snowing back home, so we thought we would try and
cheer you up with a sunny photo of ourselves. The crew pic was taken in
30c at 1730 on 1 December! Sorry to rub it in! Water temperature is
also 30c amazingly.
![]() It’s tough at the top but someone has to do it !!!! Crew picture
photo-bombed by the artful dodger!
Love to all from Moose
