We left Cefalu later than planned because we were looking at outboard engines, which meant we got to Palermo in the dark, which got me all nervous. In fact it was fine, and quite easy using the GPS to guide us into the Marina.
Palermo was really fun, we found the people extremely helpful and nice. Highlights included exploring the food market, a fairground that the kids loved and having a drink in the posh old hotel next to our marina. We bought a new Mercury 9.9HP outboard engine second hand which has been really great, transforming our dinghy into a mini rib. Now we can anchor in the best place and not worry about how far it is to get into town or to the beach.
We spent 2 nights in the very expensive marina and one night anchored outside before it was time to push on towards the north west tip of Sicily, and then Sardinia.
