On Monday we left after breakfast with two reefs in the main and half the genny rolled out. There was a Force 4-5 blowing from the west and we had a bumpy reach down to the southern headland where we turned left and headed into the Aegean proper. The closer we got to Kea the more the wind died and we eventually ended up motoring the final 10 miles or so. I decided that we should go to a bay on the north coast called Ormos Orgias, normally you can't go in here in a yacht as the Meltimi wind blows straight in there, sometimes up to 40 knots. But the Meltimi has not started blowing yet, and there was no wind forecast so we were safe to spend the night there.
It was really beautiful, with a long sandy beach and hardly anyone around. There was one other yacht who looked a bit disappointed when we came in.
We had dinner in the only Taverna and the girls had fun playing on the beach and in the playground.
A nice introduction to the Cyclades.
