Good Morning

At 0438 st Lucia time utc -4 our position is

14 12 95N 60 21 82W

and i am delighted to confirm that we have just seen the lights of St Lucia and Martinique
on the horizon

the first light to show was a yellow and flashing red light on St Lucia, i think they are radio masts and now we can see a string of lights on the coast line of Martiniqe. There is only 30 miles between the two islands so its understandable

i am so happy that we have come so far and delighted to share the experience with skip who i have shaken hands with in a proper english manner Golly naturally he is asleep and we will not wake him. he sleeps in the tardis at the front of the boat and once inside does not come out until 5 minutes before his shift starts. and jason who is also asleep. since his sea sickness became a bit better he aslo sleeps a lot so maybe narcolepsy is contageous

yesterday we cleaned most of the day

when i say cleaned we cleaned the boat inside and out and then had to clear up the mess golly made throwing away excess food and drink. he miscalculated the wind angle and throwing away a packet of green tea ( we empty all the contents from the plastic containers and packeging and then keep the plastic for disposal on land as it does not degrade in the sea) covered the rear of the boat in tea leaves. i immedioatley put into action the boat stain incident plan and we sloshed gallons of sea water over the decks so that the green tea stains were not a constant reminder to us of gollys time on board!

Jason is so so happy at the prospect of being on dry land. hes even back to his old tricks and inventing stories. no doubt about it the boy looks good. after spending 2 weeks lying prostrate in the sun at the front of the boat his colour is mahogony and for some reason- chemical i think) his teeth have become pure white. he has not eaten for 3 weeks because of the sea sickness and has lost about 7 kg and looks really good---- but now he is claiming that he could have eaten but was on a diet and just didnt tell us and thet maybe i should try! i think some of my photos of the recluse phase of his journey may make him remember--- not a diet to try at home!

skip seems to have the wrong idea about the dress sense in the caribbean. Yesterday he emerged on deck in a muscle vest-- not good if your built like a sausage. he was made to change at once and then emerged in a wife beater t shirt. change 3 brought a white t shirt--- i hope we have no more fashion errors

so now we are about 30 miles from the north of st lucia and will be arriving in about 7 hour at rodney bay marina

we have champagne on ice and will be drinking our favourite drink to celebrate Aperol spritz ( 1/3 aperol 1/3 prosecco 1/3 Soda water) delicious

last night was a pasta special night prosciutto and bolognase mix-- sheila would be horrified but it tasted amazing with short penne pasta al dente

special hello to sheila and Lucy--- see you both very soon we cant wait

keep on sleeping tight

until tomorrow with photos and landing stroy
