every day is good --some are just better than others has been my motto for some time now but today has been one of the betters--- why? because i stuffed it to the other two good and proper today.. it was a purple patch I couldnt lose. if there had been a lottery today id have won

its become a bit of a power struggle. The skipper and first officer think they have got me on the defensive with all their nautical know how but today i showed them that 20 years of struggling with those villains in the pharmaceutical industry has taught me one thing dont fight fair just win

Poor old skipper-- good manners at sea this, royal yacht squadron that ( his last yacht owner was old money) -- i showed him yorkshire rules..we were looking at a yacht and it was miles away-- and i mean miles away. to me it looked like a pinprick on the horizon but skipper pipes up " dont ask me how I know but that yacht is going away from us" it took a while for it to sink in that he really thought he could see the yacht and even more stupidly thought he could see which way it was going. slowly i said "no it cant be " and he bit and said it again " i cant tell you how i know its just a sixth sense you get at sea" poor naive child ------but even better up from no where comes the first officer with his considered opinion "yes oh yes skipper your right ive got the same feeling." well i can spot a great opportunity to get my own back --its called a bet to nothing if they are both right they should be because its their jobs and if not oh dear oh dear. For once I cant lose, its my lucky day

im not a religious person but i prayed. 4 days of always being at the bottom of the pile doesnt sit easy on these shoulders.. i made a pact with the good lord -- if the boats coming towards us no alcohol for a month. well as the yacht got bigger and bigger the two mariners began to look sheepish. then they disappeared but a 50 ft boats not exactly the new forest to hide in-- skipper was at his desk and firsty was asleep-- not for long.. I made them both eat humble pie and in big big pieces. Sixth sense my bottom -- theyve got no sense making predictions like that.!! . I had them explain to me for 20 minutes about how silly they had been and how they shouldnt be allowed to do a watch alone and maybe it was time for retirement --too much time at sea leads to early onset madness and hallucinations oh i enjoyed myself. i even allowed myself a glasss of wine to celebrate!

thank you today for the nice emails ive had saying how much some people are enjoying the blog its really good of you to be so kind so ill keep on until the end of the trip then ill start again for our next trip -the oyster regatta in Palma in september -- my first race!! of course theres always some dissenting voices and they normally come from the same quarter--- my great friend "Le Grande Fromage" he is like my sensible consciense Marshall dont do this Marshall dont do that but he hates boats and at the moment is particularly scathing. its like having a cold shower and throwing money down the drain at the same time he says what does boat stand for--- Bring Out Another Thousand pounds. well I can tell you its not like that today.. Id have paid big money to get one over on those two -- oh I did!!

Hello tonight to Grant and to Paul and Jaquie and Joe and Rhianne --seems a long time since the snow

speak tomorrow

love to all
