Nimble Ape II

The voyage continues and we are now over half way and our longitude has us to the west of the most easterly point of Brazil, albeit some 1200 miles north.  Yesterday we had to motor as the trade winds deserted us for the day, and with no wind it was extremely hot on deck.  Subsequently the tanning is coming along quite nicely.  Ian in particular looks more like a ‘big brown baby’ every day. We caught another fish, but fortunately it was late in the evening and we had already eaten so he had to go back, a lucky escape as he looked very tasty.

Nimble Ape is performing exceptionally well but we have discovered some chafe points: at the top of the mast where the spinnaker halyard exits and at the end of the bowsprit where the tack line also exits.  We are checking the chafe points  every 12 hours or so just ensure we don’t have a halyard failure at the masthead.

Other than that all’s well and here’s a picture of me just finishing the morning watch....It rained overnight hence the foul weather gear.
