Lady Drake Re-launch and Sail to Porto di Roma - 10-3-2007 to 12-3-2007.

Destination: 41:44.296N 12:14.665E

It is time to start thinking about sailing plans for the summer of 2007.

Lady Drake has been kept out of the water at a marina called Riva di Traiano which is about 30 miles outside of Rome where I arrived to collect her on 10-3-2007 and immediately plans were underway to re-launch.

She was loaded onto a trolley which was under remote control,  a great toy:

Transferring her to the launching cradle:

After the launch the engineer tested the engine to find the Alternator had seized solid, this delayed my departure because the earliest possible date to get another alternator was on Monday and luckily I had taken some extra days off.

It turned out that Monday was the best day for weather and the temperature reached 22 degrees.  The Alternator replacement took two attempts as the first did not fit, but eventually it was correct and I was on my way by 12:30.

My next destination was Porto di Roma where I plan to berth the boat until I finish work in June as it is only 9km from the airport.  The trip was a total of 32Nm and after some wonderful weather on the water I arrived at 17:40.

On the way to Porto di Roma (notice the shorts and tee shirt):

The boat is now safely tied up in Porto di Roma and I will fly back to Prague on 13th March.  I am looking forward to the summer weather here as there is also a beach.

That’s all for now!
