Lady Drake Sail from Rome to Ventotene 2-7-2007 to 4-7-2007

Destination: 40:48.072N 13:26.039E

Departed from Rome with Simon on 2nd July we made a short trip to Anzio from Porte Turistica di Roma we spent a great evening just wandering the streets and having dinner in a local restaurant overlooking the harbour.  We berthed along side a French boat and the couple on board gave us some excellent advice on places to visit.

On Tuesday 3rd July we sailed to an Island called Ventotene which had a harbour built by the Romans.  The harbour and some of the restaurants were carved into the volcanic rock which was part of a laver flow more than 700,000 years old (I am glad that we came 700,000 years later!).

There was an English boat moored next to Ventotene and after bumping into them in a restaurant in the Roman harbour we shared a few glasses of wine back on the boat, quite an enjoyable evening.

As the weather forecast is for some stronger winds we decided to stay in Ventotene for another night.

We have been snorkelling in the crystal clear water,  now time for a Siesta
