We escaped the busy anchorage and charter yacht mayhem at Clifton village as
soon as our anchor was clear of
a French charter catamaran which had anchored directly in front of us - not
even a shrug of a contrition - and had a gentle sail into the sheltered,
tranquil,
beautiful and almost deserted Chatham Bay on the west coast which has
excellent snorkelling and bird watching where brown pelican, bridled tern
and brown boobies are in abundance.

There are three shacks on the shore, one owned by Jerry provides
perfect rum punches and the others delicious barbecued "lobster" and
dorado. After watching a gorgeous sunset from Jerry`s candle lit shack, we
joined up with crew from "Sweet Chariot", a Farr 60, and an American yacht
for a convivial evening at the one owned by jovial "Shark Attack". En
passant, he mentioned cooking for T Blair and
family a year or so ago when they made a special trip to "his" beach. Given
the we are now in territory frequented by the likes of the late Princess
Margaret,
Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Donald Trump it is perhaps unsurprising that a
British P.M. should make little impression on this entertaining islander.
