With as much sail piled on as possible to make the most of the remaining
breeze( averaging 19 knots), we`ve been stonking along for the last 48
hours and now have only 150 miles to go. Almost certainly we should arrive
in daylight on Sunday 9th.

Yesterday was JL`s day. Not only did he calculate our position from sextant
sighting to within a nanometre of the GPS position, but he produced a
magnificent curry, sadly his last meal of the voyage. He and JS have done
all the cooking which in itself is accomplishment enough, but for it to have
been of such consistently high standard has been staggering. Plaudits are
also due to RB who in addition to his capacity as Head of Mid Atlantic
Chamber of Commerce, and apprentice mechanic, has been assiduous in his
duties at the sink and even makes a good job at cleaning the stove. For a
modest fee he is now available for parties within a 100 miles of Shrewsbury
provided 10% commission is received by Gaudeo as contribution for his
training and annual appraisal.

Fishing has proved somewhat disappointing even following advice from son in
law, Charlie Newington-Bridges, who tells a good fisherman`s tale. We did go
lower with the line and even changed the lure fom Japanese LDS Deep Diver
to Red Octopus; though we were once optimistic, a dolphin became attracted
and the line had to be hauled in. We are however, pleased to relate that
today sufficient flying fish, Atheriniformes, landed in time for breakfast.
As RB was on watch we can only assume they were attracted by his smelly
socks.

As we draw to the end of our hedonistic voyage, we are reminded that
Shrewsbury friends, Peter and Nicci are toughing it out under the hands of
surgeons and all on Gaudeo wish them a speedy recovery.
