Libel lawyers, Carter Ruck, declined the case - see entry 26/11/07 -
reminding the "mutineers" of Jeffrey Archers`& Jonathan Aitken`s fate. As a
gesture of good will, the blog editor agreed to publish the following: The
skipper abandoned reefing duty on deck yesterday because, quote, "I`m
getting wet".

Have been scudding along for the last 3 days at around 6-7 knots usually
with one or two reefs. Frequent squalls often with rain, and some variation
in wind direction have kept the crew active - lots of "upper body work" so
perhaps there will be less pounding on the deck by the fitness instructor
tonight. Daughter Anna has remarked that Transatlantic sailing seems all
about "fashion, food, and frivolity". Pace, dear readers; we do not wish to
upset the grandchildren with gruesome tales of the struggle taking place out
here. For instance, the Quartermaster ("Stores") has reported that supplies
of fresh fruit and vegetables are dwindling and thoughts are turning to
scurvy. Debate focused on whether wine contained sufficient concentration
of vitamin C. This was detail beyond our resident oenologist`s compass so
an urgent email was sent to Mr Google; sadly wine is deficient in vitamin
C, so we shall have to resort to fish eyes. Incidentally, we are running
short on protein and I have noticed my shipmates are taking more than a
polite interest in my appearance, due modesty notwithstanding.

Competition and excellence abound in the bakery department. Following his
production of an amazing chocolate sponge cake- an addition to Gary Rhodes
style meals for which he famous - JS is more than forgiven by off duty crew
for his noisy, insomniac wanderings!

News from the Astro navigation department: many sights taken of sun and
stars, many positions calculated ...........none for publication.
