Dec 1st – Day 7 – 11:15 UTC

Just absorbing the news from Musgrave Park, might be only Magners League but defeat to Leinster still hurts here in mid Atlantic! Undaunted we continue to fly our Munster flag from the spreaders. Winds are holding up well now and forecast to continue at least until tomorrow. In the absence of a downwind rig (we are still engineering a solution with a variant of the twistler the most likely outcome) we are tacking slightly south today. Grib charts are suggesting a calm area to the north. Overnight we damaged the main with a wear tear to one of the baton pockets where it was resting on a shroud. Nothing too serious.

We were joined by some dolphins briefly yesterday which caused great excitement and this morning we spotted our first flying fish. Not much wild life by the standards of the other boats but a long way still to go. Ships computer indicates we have 1888nm’s to St. Lucia. We put the ships clock back one hour this morning and hence the reference to UTC above.

Our water tanks remain full (400ltrs) while to-date we have used just 14ltrs of fuel charging batteries. We are still eating fresh meat although it will be interesting to see how much further we get. Before we left we had all our meat frozen and vacuum packed.

Three of the four of us have full beards now with just one lonesome dove………we will let you guess who.
