Hermann, on Daisy, with whom we were going to go in convoy left last night, sailing away into the fog. We hope to see him in Horta. We needed to resolve our last issues before setting off and because it is bad luck to leave on a Friday, we are going early Saturday morning. We are now setting about our last minute chores - buying fresh vegetables and fruit, stocking up on bread and all those little last minute things.
The weather is looking as good as it can be for an Atlantic crossing. We expect light winds for the first few days which will give us a chance to settle in to our watch routine. Later there will be a bit more wind to push us to the Azores.
It seems fitting to leave on Midsummer's day and to sail into the rising sun.
At last.
