Hitchhikers and a disappearing duvet

I am joined
by two young hitchhikers for the passage to Phuket. Day one is lovely albeit windless. The rest of the trip is horrible with strong
wind (always against us) and much rain.
I split it into five legs instead of four to make things easier, arrive
in Ao Chalong and clear in. My
hitchhikers are glad to be ashore.
The plan was
to cruise around the islands for a few days and look at a few hongs but the
forecast is terrible so next day we head off for the fifteen mile trip to Boat
Lagoon Marina. The rain does not stop
and the wind is frequently 30 knots.
Arriving at the marina my little lovelies cannot come out of the cabin
to help as it is still raining. Seasoned
sailors? Not!
I pack the
girls off to a yoga meditation centre or some such and meet up with some old
friends and start to get ready for my trip to Austria where LBB (little baby
boy) is getting married next week.
One morning
when the wind is down and the sun is up (for a change) I spread my duvet out on
the bimini to air. I go shopping, come
back. And no duvet. Anyway I have a diver
booked that afternoon to change an anode.
He can go and look for it. I
explain to him that it must be astern off the starboard side as the port side
has lots of things to catch it and stop it blowing in that direction. Ignoring
me the diver goes port side astern, dives down and pulls it straight up. “How did you know it was there?” “This
morning I was working across the way and I saw it blow away and sink.”
Well, that
might have been a good time to go and get it, thinks I…
