Another hard day at sea. No ; but the wind has filled in a little so after
doing under 5 knots all day we are now over 5 and expect the wind to increase
and veer to our advantage.
It was a domestic day First the washing of the decks by Russell and
Simon and cockpit by James which was badly needed.
James then baked a magnificent loaf. No recipe necessary. Just memory of
his HE class. The skipper wanted to interpret the package from Portuguese but
James insisted No! We will be having a tasting tomorrow and will report on the
blog.
Some of the fruit is starting to go off so we are having a big sweet of
mango and pineapple tonight.
We saw 2 shearwaters today the first for a while
A large container vessel passed across our bows about 5 miles heading
north.
On the skippers watch a sailing boat showing its port light passed heading
west presumably to the Azores. It was only 200 metres away. We called on VHF but
got no reply. What about that on this big ocean.
The weather was sunny today and a little warmer.
We had several sail changes as the wind had not decided what to do but now
we are broad reaching under full rig with mizzen stay sail at 6
knots.
