On Sunday the 13th of March 2016, I left the vessel after handing over to a new Master. Hopefully he has more lucky than me.

At least we arrived safe in Fujairah, all working well .
During the last night sailing, I could check the officer on duty if he was correctly sailing. Amazing how technology changes the last years.
Only by bleutooth connection with my tablet and a good software, as for example SoB , Software on Board, I can easily check the course, speed and if we follow the correct route.
Of course in case you don't have the right charts it's not correct but at least it give me the opportunity to do additional checks.

I combine those with the Navionics application which works perfectly . The application is cheap and works very good.

As we are not working with full ECDIS complied vessels, we put as per normal, our position on the paper chart.

For less than 200 euro, you've got an easy working system working world wide. Be aware of the limits of your system. Sometimes the GPS signal isn't strong enough and your position isn't following up. Your paper charts are your basic navigation aid and has to be used at every time.

After all those adventures, we hope the best for the new crew (Master and Chief Engineer) .

I'm looking forward to a new adventure, to be continued.

At least, April starts the new season for Libertas in the Acores .

Kind regards,
