Position at 2030 local (1730UTC+3) 18:52.7S 38:41.4E COG SOG Motoring again today in a now abandoned plan to try to get to the anchorage at Bazaruto on Monday in daylight. The gribs are now looking more favourable and we may not need to be as concerned about conditions on Monday night as we were fearing. We will aim for a Tuesday arrival unless there is a suitable temporary anchorage. We have asked Des Cason for his advice which is to take it one day at a time, refining options as we go. An extended period of S and SE wind sets in this week which makes getting to Richard’s Bay problematic. Tonight I am watching the moon set under a beautiful starry sky. We are sailing with full main and genoa which is unusual for us but we are getting used to the idea of sailing to keep a higher average speed rather than safe comfort. The CAPE values are high at the moment suggesting an increased risk of squalls, wind anomalies and thunderstorms. No sign so far but we will be on our toes. |
