Vinales is described in the book as  characterized by its quiet, unhurried streets lined by rustling pine trees, a town of creaking rocking chairs on well polished porches., where the enthusiastic locals will greet you as one of the family. This has to be the friendliest place in Cuba. There are more than 250 Casa’s here.

We went to see the ‘Mural de la Phrehistoria’ This mural is painted on the side of a mountain. The mural is 617 meters high and 120 meters long. It took 15 people five years to complete. The huge snail, dinosaurs, sea monsters and humans on the cliff symbolize the theory of evolution.  Also on the day we went to the cave of the Indian, with its stalagmites. It went underground for quite a way until we arrived at an underground river where we got into a boat which got us back to the outside.
