> Upon rounding the headland, the wind was from 120 Deg port.
> I went straight up and popped the chute that I had prepared earlier.
> Flying it from the selden bow sprite, we were amazed at what we saw.
> I know that the faster you go the more the apparent wind moves forward.
> Well we were doing 8, sometimes 8.5 knts out of 10 knts of wind, by this time the app wind was 60 degrees with 120 true, we had the chute sheeted right in.
> We passed 5 boats including an Amel 54 with 3 sails up! Get in there!!!!
> Three hours later the wind died to 3 knts and the engine was on, but a great time was had by all, with the crew saying we should do this more often!
>
> Today I have had the hand held radio repaired, all is fine with that now.
> I have Re fitted the linear drive.
> The Raymarine guys turned up to try and find out why we get no heading data on the E80. This means we don't get set and drift either.
> After a lot of wire pulling and head scratching, they have now taken away for testing,
>
> Auto pilot head
> Wind instrument heads x2
> Tri data heads x2
> The S2 course computer
> The multi graphic display
> The complete E80 chart plotter
> Rhee R125 gps antenna.
>
> I asked them if they wanted the engine as well!! They said that would not be nessassary.
> Apparently the E80 isn't made any more and they can't get parts either, so lord knows what they are going to do with it all.
> Raymarine seem to be very good at coming up with new models and dropping their predecessors very quickly, offering no support at all.
> As you know I bought the RayTech navigator software to run on the laptop. Raymarine have no intention of issuing a windows 8 upgrade. That software was £600.00 now it's no use.
> It's all very frustrating, I know we don't actually need the heading or the set and drift but its nice to have it, and to have everything functioning as it should.
So as you can see all the troubles have now gone away.... But it means we are now back stuck in Marmaris for a few more days till it all gets fixed. With this in mind we are heading into Netsel Marina for happy hour this evening to catch up with some old friends.
